The problem
The ease of traveling has increased with the availability of accommodation platforms and remote work; however, expenses and concerns about home security remain a barrier. In 2021, 1.7 million residential burglaries were reported by IBGE, discouraging many potential travelers.
Solution
It was from this frustration that the opportunity arose to develop a platform where users can exchange stays in their homes for others anywhere in the world. Inspired by digital nomads, the concept has grown in recent years, now boasting over 35 million users (source: Fragomen).
Benchmarking
According to what already exists in the market, I conducted a benchmarking study to understand the usability of these platforms, their key features, and best practices.

Quantitative research
To better understand the expectations of potential users, I conducted a quantitative research study with 12 participants.
These were the results:

Qualitative Research/User Interviews
To better understand expectations regarding the platform, I conducted interviews with short-term rental hosts and digital nomads, totaling 5 participants.
The focus was to understand their experience with accommodation platforms to identify best practices and opportunities.
The overall result was as follows:

Problem Redefinition
After the immersion, I realized that gaining acceptance for the home exchange concept would be a challenge for Brazilian users. Most people place high value on the security and integrity of their homes, while another segment has already embraced a lifestyle without a fixed residence, living as digital nomads.
Therefore, my challenge became:
Connecting digital nomads with homeowners who provide all the necessary resources for their work routines, combined with the leisure opportunities enabled by the flexibility of remote work.
With the new direction for the product in mind, I developed a Proto-Persona to define a target audience and craft the perfect solution for them.

Information Architecture
With the user definitions in place, the flows were established.
